Bruce Fields
Bruce Fields is a name synonymous with baseball. A former professional player, a decorated coach, and an instructor, Fields has dedicated over four decades to America’s favorite pastime.
Playing Career
Drafted by the Detroit Tigers in 1978, Fields spent parts of three seasons in the Major Leagues with the Tigers and the Seattle Mariners. Primarily a leftfielder and pinch hitter, he compiled a respectable batting average of .274 with 11 RBIs. However, it was in the minor leagues where Fields truly shined, amassing a .295 batting average with 41 home runs over 1381 games.
Coaching and Management
Following his playing career, Fields transitioned seamlessly into coaching. He served as the hitting coach for the Detroit Tigers’ major league team for three seasons and has held coaching positions at various levels in the minor leagues. Notably, he was the hitting coach for the New York Mets organization as recently as 2022.
Fields’ expertise extends beyond hitting. He also boasts a successful stint as a manager, leading the Class A West Michigan Whitecaps to the league’s best record and earning the Midwest League Manager of the Year Award twice.
