Always remember to buy a baseball glove that will exactly fit in your hand. Start practicing catching with your friend. If you have no one to practice with get a tennis ball and find a wall where you can bounce the ball off the wall.
One of the most important duties of catcher is receiving the ball, you’ll need to have soft hands, firm wrist and be focus. Try to catch the ball with your weaker hand so that your strong hand will be free to throw and it will save your time. Catching with weaker hand is not easy so practice harder.
Throwing Drills
The easiest way to learn throwing is to throw while bending on one knee. Right hander throwers will kneel on their right knee and lefties on their left knee.
The hand should go back past the head, the elbow moves forward and the wrist twist as the baseball releases. Always remember wrist action has a lot to do with accuracy and power of throw so make sure that you are not throwing with a stiff wrist.
Once you mastered this drill try to throw the baseball while standing and maintain your balance.
